Owen is a Chartered Accountant who started his career with Price Waterhouse and went on to become Financial Controller in medium and large IT hardware and services companies. Owen has moved beyond finance to establish and run businesses in recruitment (FinanceMark) and training (Performance English).

In addition to membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Owen holds an MBa from the Australian Graduate School of Management (AGSM) and a Bachelor of Economics (BEc) in Accounting & Finance from Macquarie University.

As a direct result of the skills shortage he observed in recruitment and the prominence of skilled professional migrants with communications challenges, Owen established Performance English in 2006.
